September 1st Banking Action (2021)
Petition Closed – No Further Actions
Back in September 2021, we supported a community-driven open letter signed by over 1400 people. Mostly cam models, adult performers, LGBTQ+ and QTPOC workers, plus a bunch of allies.
The letter called out MasterCard and other big banks for policies that were hitting live performers really hard. That petition ran its course, collected all those signatures, and has been officially closed. There are no more actions or follow-ups planned from this.
Why Cam Models Felt It the Most
Camming is real work for a lot of models. Your fans are tipping you right then and there during the show, that’s often how you cover rent, food, and everything else. When the banks or processors suddenly tighten the rules on adult payments, it can kill your income overnight.
It hit LGBTQ+ and QTPOC cam models especially hard, since a lot of us rely on this work because of barriers in other jobs. We supported the letter because those policies weren’t protecting anyone, they were just making survival tougher for the people actually doing the work.
Summary of The Letter
We backed our models call for MasterCard to:
- Stop rolling out the new strict adult-content rules they had planned for October 2021
- Quit singling out adult platforms while ignoring much bigger problems on mainstream sites
- Actually listen to real working cam models instead of just making corporate decisions behind closed doors
- Treat banking access more fairly for people in consensual adult work
The letter also laid out specific problems with their policies things like impossible moderation demands, unfair targeting, and how it all pushed performers into riskier spots.
CLOSED
It was an important moment back in 2021, and we’re glad we could show support for the cam community at the time. But the petition is over and the letter was sent.
Thanks to everyone who signed and shared their stories back then.
